Our mission at Giving Opportunities to Kids Foundation is to open doors beyond the classroom experience to help children explore and develop their talents, interests, and skills. In order to achieve this goal, we facilitate a number of programs that are uniquely designed to broaden horizons, encouraging children to reach their highest potential. We also look for ways to partner with the community and other organizations, who share a passion for investing in our youth.

Storm drain dectectives
Established in 2000, the Storm Drain Detectives are a group of Lodi USD teachers, students, and community members, in partnership with the City of Lodi, Public Works Department, that monitor the Mokelumne River monthly at several different sites where stormwater enters the river. The students record their findings which are then reported online for public information. GOT Kids lends support to this amazing program to help fund experiential learning components and underwrite program costs.
mokelumne current
Every year, students participating in the City of Lodi's environmental education programs have the opportunity to share what they’ve learned with the community in the Mokelumne Current. This annual publication features articles, interviews, photos, artwork, creative writing, poetry, and more, all created by local students. The focus of each issue is on the Mokelumne River Watershed, the Delta, conservation and local ecology. Each Lodi USD student receives a printed copy of the Mokelumne Current in May, funded by GOT Kids.
My Books
We support literacy nights held at Lodi USD elementary school sites, where caregivers join in a small group setting to learn about the importance of reading with a child. Studies show that even looking at the pictures and talking together provides important language development for young children. Every child receives an age-appropriate book to take home and enjoy together with their family.
Choices
A volunteer driven, research-based program for 8th grade students to help them understand the impact choices have on their future. In today's world, students need encouragement and support to reach their full potential.
